Detroit tied it up in the fifth when Wynn loaded the bases and walked Russ Sullivan to force Groth home.
Cleveland took the lead again in the sixth when Trucks walked Wynn and Dale Mitchell and Wynn scored when Kuenne let Avila's grounder go through his legs into center field.
The Indians put the game on ice in the eighth when Avila tripled, Doby singled and Easter doubled, scoring two more runs.
Trucks was the loser for Detroit, suffering his 18th setback against five victories—two of them no-hitters.
The Indians have only four more games remaining in the 1952 season, while the Yanks have six more. The Tribe however is two games back in the loss column.
