A BAD CUSTOMER.

On Saturday evening about ten o'clock Wm. Campbell went to the restaurant of Wm. Downing, corner of Third and Market streets, and called for something to eat. After his wants had been supplied he refused to pay for them, and upon the proprietor remonstrating with him, he not only refused to pay but struck Mr. Downing in the face. Word was sent to the police office, and officer Payne was detailed to arrest the obstreperous person. Upon arriving at the scene he arrested Campbell and started with him to the hall. While going up Market street, they were met by a man named John Styre who endeavored to rescue Campbell from the officer. In the scuffle that ensued Campbell escaped, but was subsequently arrested by the same officer at Front and Market streets and taken to the City Hall. A warrant was procured for the arrest of Styre who was arrested later in the evening. At a hearing before the Mayor yesterday morning Campbell was required to pay $3 and costs, and Styre $10 and costs.
