SPIRIT OF SOUTHERN WOMEN.

We have received the following spirited and patriotic communication from "A Daughter of Lancaster." When ladies use such language it is no surprising that South Carolina desires so earnestly

SECESSION.

"Lives there a chief whom Ajax ought to dread, Ajax, in all the toils of battle bred?"

The acts of the last session of Congress determined the course which the South must pursue if she wishes to maintain her rights and preserve the inheritance of her noble ancestors.—When the Constitution ceases to answer the end for which it was formed; on the contrary it is used by the greedy North in her onward aggressions. Now is the time for the South to separate forever from a government which denies her equal rights—from a government that has robbed her of many millions of dollars and still intends to rob her of more, and eventually reduce her to the most awful ruin. The South has nothing to lose by united and immediate action, but everything to gain. The North would be the sufferer.

Men of the South, it is your interest—it is your duty to yourselves—to your gallant ancestors.—to the cause of humanity, to strike altogether, against the common enemy...to have but one end and that to beat for Southern Rights.

...wards: remember that you have mothers, sisters. Sons, remember that you are about to fight against your motherland...the mother that gave you birth, in aid of a merciless foe that threatens your fair mothers and daughters of our country, savages your own kindred to the most shocking cruelties, and to reduce the abodes of happiness and wealth to those of misery and desolation. Remember your rank is that of the lowest and vilest of mankind.. even beasts love their homes

Let the whole South be organized into companies and well supplied with arms, suitable to defend her rights and secure Southern Independence. That we may be the strongest in this, let none be backward; that we may all be ready at a moment's warning, let our hoary headed sires enlist with alacrity under the "Southern Banner." and by their readiness each to occupy, according to its strength, posts of danger and usefulness, fire our youth with double zeal to prepare for deeds of noble daring.

Let our District, heretofore so prompt to her country's call, now come forward with all her patriotic spirit to defend her freedom and her firesides. and let it not be said, in after time, that even one base traitor was found in Lancaster when Southern Rights was at stake. Be not depressed... waste not a moment in grieving over past wrongs. but rather look forward to the time when, by your gallant deeds, you shall have avenged them: having struck down, for ever, the flag of Federal oppression, and raised that of SOUTHERN INDEPENDENCE to wave triumphantly over your sunny fields
