Accounts from Norfolk, of Feb. 13. say:—

General Washington's birth day was ushered in on Monday last, at day break, from a heavy piece of ordinance, when immediately a reveille was beat by the martial music of the volunteer company. At sun-rise, the town was saluted with a regular discharge of artillery, at meridian the field pieces at town point fired 13, which were responded by an equal number of well directed firings from the gentlemen volunteers. The flags of America and France were displayed at different places in this town, as also by the shipping in the harbour. The evening concluded with a ball at the borough tavern where an elegant supper was provided by Capt. Smith, at which were present a numerous and most respectable assemblage of ladies, and gentlemen, and the night was crowned with every mark of festivity that could give brilliancy to this auspicious occasion.
