DR. LEN G. BROUGHTON FIRST BAPTIST TONIGHT
IN INTEREST OF BIG EDUCATIONAL CAMPAIGN.

Claude E. Sprague, Local Manager, Announces Number Voluntary Gifts.

Dr. Len G. Broughton, of Knoxville, last night wired Claude E. Sprague, local manager of the big educational campaign that is on in East Tennessee for $30,000, that he will be on hand tonight at 8 o'clock to address the big Baptist mass meeting at the First Baptist church.

Every effort possible is being made today to make sure that ex-Gov. Ben Hooper will be able to come, also. It was reported that Mr. Hooper is ill and cannot attend. In the event he is unable to be at the meeting Dr. W. L. Gentry, president of Carson-Newman college, and other prominent educators will be present.

One of the local interesting features planned for tonight's meeting will be the assembling of all the former Carson-Newman students who live in Chattanooga.

Among the local laymen who will be seated on the rostrum will be: Hon. Newell Sanders, A. W. Chambiss, D. A. Landress, E. H. Rolston and the local Baptist ministers.

Foundation work was done in all the Baptist churches Wednesday night when the matter of Christian education was presented by different ministers and laymen.

Claude E. Sprague, the campaign manager, states that every indication points to a large gathering of Baptists and that interest is fast growing in favor of Ocoee association raising her quota, which is $30,000. He announces a number of large voluntary gifts. No collections whatever will be made at the meeting tonight. The campaign does not start until next Tuesday and lasts for four days.
