New Orleans, July 25.—Advices have been received from the city of Mexico to the 16th inst. The papers were filled with discussions relative to the proposed Spanish Protectorate, and the scheme was understood to be favored by the government. Santa Anna had invited the Jesuits to return to Mexico, preparatory to a union between the Church and State. The Count de Boulbon had arrived in Mexico, and visited the president. The diligence running between Vera Cruz and the city of Mexico had been robbed, and one of the passengers killed. Fifteen of the robbers had subsequently been arrested. Dreadful inundations had occurred in the State of Jalisco. The town of Huajacan was entirely swept away and many lives were lost
