GET TEACHER JOBS
90 Were Located in State, 29 in Minnesota, and 29 'Elsewhere'
Grand Forks, N. D., Feb. 3.—Salaries paid to teachers who obtain their positions through the recommendation committee at the University of North Dakota aggregated $216,875 in 1930 according to Prof. C. C. Schmidt, director of education and practice teaching.
Graduate teachers from the university are represented in all the larger schools of the state, and the teaching staff in some of the medium-sized high schools is made up entirely of university graduates, Professor Schmidt said.
A report compiled by Professor Schmidt shows that in 1930 over 90 graduates were located in North Dakota, 29 were sent to Minnesota, and 29 "elsewhere." Those listed under "elsewhere" are distributed throughout the United States and the Hawaiian Islands.
The recommendation committee was called upon to supply teachers for 376 positions for 246 schools, principally in the Northwest. Of this number, a total of 152 jobs were filled, although the total number of recommendations sent out to students wanting positions amounted to 1,760.
