Our Carrier—the Colonel, departed from the sanctum on the morning of the 15th inst., with his figure head turned toward the East. He will 'slosh' around among his many friends in Minneapolis, and thereaway for a few days, and return to Bismarck on Tuesday next. We know the Colonel needed rest and relief, and that he will have an enjoyable time, yet we wish he were here. It isn't fun much either to 'run' a newspaper; one is so prone to say something that somebody won't like, then the quill driver is liable to get his head 'mashed,' or his 'globes smoked,' or a Mansard roof raised on his cranium. Oh! It's hard to be editor. But in order to 'be on hand' during our Chief's absence, we have barricaded our den with the composing stones, have the walls hung thick with needle guns, Henry rifles, navies, six-shooters, shot guns, and various other arms and equipments, and shall be on duty and guard to receive callers on all occasions.
