LETTER FROM GREEN RIVER.

[Special to The Sentinel.]

Green River, Utah, Jan. 17.--After a period of over fifteen years the division point was established here again on the 15th and now Green River is one of the important stations on the road. About forty men are at work, laying track, and taking care of the engines, while the station force has been increased by an additional operator, and two new call boys.

The Commercial Club entertained their friends in the Broadway opera house Thursday evening. Local talent entertained the guests with musical numbers and the Green River band rendered some very fine classical music.

Everyone enjoyed the entertainment and departed well pleased determined to give Green River an additional boost.

Messrs. Austin West, G. S. Maris, Col. Durant, Robert Woodruff, and Jesse Morriss left Wednesday for Salt Lake City to attend the Good Roads convention, and while in the city will try and lobby with the legislature for a new bridge across Green river.

Messrs. J. D. Peters and J. H. Briscoe from Winfield, Kansas, arrived Monday and will improve their farms which they recently purchased. Mr. Briscoe will plant eighty acres to orchard this spring.

Mr. T. D. Spalding is very ill with an attack of erysipelas.

Mrs. T. D. Hatch is visiting Mrs. T. S. Turner, and will return to Colton in a few days.

Dr. W. E. Probst, of Nebraska, was a visitor to Green River Tuesday and was well pleased with the prospects of Green River. The doctor will locate shortly in Green River and establish a dental office.

Mr. R. D. Coonen has purchased the abstract business of E. D. Roberts

Owing to an erroneous report that the Commercial Club had started to work on a forty-room $25,000 hotel, Secretary Schlosser is receiving a great many letters from carpenters and contractors wanting to figure on the work.

Sixteen hundred dollars worth of water was purchased from the Green River Mutual Irrigation company, Friday.
