MILITIA OFFICER APPOINTED.—We learn that Captain James Eiler, of the Cameron Guards, of this city, has received an appointment as captain in the regular army, and has been ordered to report immediately to Colonel Keyes, commanding the eleventh regiment of infantry, at Boston, Massachusetts. Captain E. was at the head of a company in the Mexican war, where he displayed his worth and efficiency as a military officer. Previous to assuming command of the Cameron Guards, he held a clerical position in one of the Departments, which he resigned at the time of the apprehended attack on this city, for the purpose of organizing a military company for its defence. His men express great regret at parting with so gentlemanly and excellent an officer.
