On Monday last a vessel arrived at Marblehead from Barbados in 10 days, by which we have advice that on the sixth of October instant, a packet arrived there from England; on which an embargo was immediately laid on all the shipping there. That Commodore Sir James Douglas had ordered that all His Majesty's ships, as they should come into Barbados, should lay by for his further orders. That from sundry strong and credible reports, they soon expected an armament to go against Martinico. This vessel being cleared out, got away in the night following the 6th instant, notwithstanding the embargo, leaving one of her hands behind.
