FARMERS' WEEK

Columbia entertains this week farmers who come here to discuss some of the most important problems now facing the Government and the allied governments in connection with the food situation.

Conservation will be the theme of the whole program, and special attention will be given in all of the lectures and demonstrations to the special problems of wartime conditions.

The meeting is of more than mere local or state importance. It is of national significance, both owing to the fact that speakers from the National Administration will take part, and that the things which the farmers learn to do as their part of the war program will have important bearing on food production in the state during the present year. There will be something on the Farmers' Week program for everyone connected with the farm, and the emphasis throughout the week will be upon "speeding up" in order to furnish food to our Army and to the Allies.

In connection with the regular program of Farmers' Week there will be several special conferences, chief among which will be the Missouri War Council, called by the State Council of Defense. The object of this conference will be to begin a state organization for the purpose of educating the people upon various phases of war work. Then there will be the Missouri Corn Show, the Missouri Ham and Bacon Show, meetings of the Missouri Live Stock Producers' Association, the Missouri Rural Life Conference, the Missouri Corn Growers' Association, the Missouri Farm Management Association and other state association meetings.

All in all, Farmers' Week this year promises to be exceptionally important and instructive.
