The following accident happened lately in the isle of Purbeck, Dorsetshire. One Joan Gryles, an old woman near 80, was intrusted with the care of her grand-daughter, a child about a year old, while the father and mother were gone to Weymouth. The old woman fell asleep, during which time a sow bit off the right arm of the child, and would have destroyed it, had not the old woman awaked. Notwithstanding the child lost her arm near the shoulder, the surgeon thinks there are great hopes of recovery.
