The fall and winter planning conference for board and committee members of the Newark YMCA will be held at Dr. J. W. Barker's Harbor Hills home on Sunday afternoon and evening, Sept. 29, it was announced this week by Roy A. Cochran, general program chairman of the Y.
The conference will feature an address by Grove Patterson, editor of the Toledo Blade, who has been active in YMCA work both in Ohio and nationally for many years.
The program will open at 3:30 in the afternoon with a welcome from Dr. J. W. Barker, president of the local YMCA. His remarks will be followed by an address by John Sessions, associate executive of the Ohio area YMCA's. He will discuss the purposes underlying YMCA programs.
Following this address board and committee members will meet in eight organized discussion groups to discuss various phases of YMCA work for the coming year, and formulate plans for the year's program.
The committees and chairmen are as follows: boys' work. Frew C. Boyd, chairman; women's and girls work, John Sessions, chairman; men's work, Roy A. Cochran, chairman; public relations, Arthur Shepard, chairman; Industrial program, R. L. Dickinson, chairman; Membership and Finance, C. D. Rankin, chairman; church cooperation, E. S. Randolph, chairman: the YMCA of the future, H. J. Lowe, chairman.
The committee in charge of the program is composed of Roy A. Cochran, chairman; C. K. Roof, Dr. J. W. Barker and Champe J. Stoakes.
