Full Text

October 17. At a village not far west from London, when news was brought of the warm reception which the French have met with in Corsica, the bells were set a ringing, and every countenance expressed the utmost joy and satisfaction upon that account: even boys of ten years old huzza'd, and cried out, "The Corsicans have licked the Monseers; I am very glad of it." Those brave islanders may, perhaps, to the astonishment of all Europe, be able to convince all ambitious Princes, how ineffectual it is to attempt to deprive even a handful of men of their liberty and property when determined to spend the last breath of life in the defence thereof.
