Full Text

Riot In Shasta County.—Gaston & Co., who obtained a verdict in their favor at the last term of the District Court, took possession of the claim in dispute, on Saturday last, and worked during the afternoon. Afterwards the opposite party went into it, threw tools and boxes out and took possession. They were arrested for riot, and bound over to appear before the District Court. The claim is still in their possession, and they express a willingness to abandon it whenever the Court legally orders it. A writ of restitution has been applied for by Gaston & Co. We understand that an agreement was entered into previous to this last difficulty by the lawyers for both parties, that neither should attempt to work in the claim for thirty days after Court, and the party in possession claim that the others have violated it.—Northern Argus.
