A Constable in one of the Towns in this Colony having seized

carried it to their Treasurer, who, upon critical Examination, found 37 Pounds of it to be counterfeit.

At Boston, and most other Parts of Massachusetts Bay, the large Sums which are counterfeit, are made the Pretence for refusing it altogether, many declaring they cannot distinguish it. In New-Hampshire it is much worse, as there is more counterfeit than real Money among them.--They have talked of calling it in; but find that it will not do, as the Task would not only be endless and perplexing, but occasion much Uneasiness.
