PORTSMOUTH, Jan. 12. Last week a deputation from this town waited on Capt. Montague, and the other Gentlemen officers on board his Majesty's ship the Fowey, and delivered them a card of thanks for the important aid they afforded at a late alarming fire in that town, and for the constant readiness they have always shewn to assist every trading vessel in distress.

The address was politely received; and Captain Montague having thanked them, was pleased to say, "He ever would be disposed to grant every assistance in his power, when consistent with his duty."
