Full Text

TO MAKE VINEGAR.-
J. S. Skinner, Sir—As the proper season for making Vinegar is now at hand, I send you a receipt which I know from experience to be a cheap and very easy way of making it for those who have no orchards, and perhaps may prove useful to some one of your numerous subscribers, if you think it deserving a place in the columns of the American Farmer. To every ten gallons of rain water add one gallon molasses, and one of Brandy, [Whiskey—say a gallon and a half, will answer as well,] mix them well together and place the cask in a garret or some warm dry place, and occasionally shaking it, in a few months it will be fit for use.
