Full Text

CHARLESTON, January 5.

Hasty measures, says a correspondent, are the bane of good government; they either entail absurdity, or misfortune, or both. The violent patriots of New-England, who thought nothing competent to contend with their decrees, now begin to see and FEEL the folly of their proceedings in prohibiting the English from their coasts. They wanted money, it is true, but they want it still; they thought the English took it all away; it goes as fast as ever, and they are still discontented; therefore the evil must be among themselves, nor is it difficult to point it out and see that it is LUXURY.
