JUNEAU FILIPINOS
"My Filipino friends have all declared for an independence but not for an independence that carries with it any lessening of the friendly relation that has existed and continues to exist between the Philippine Islands and the United States," Karl Theile told members of the Loyola Club at their meeting Christmas Eve.
"They never want the American people to become independent of the Filipinos nor the Filipino to be entirely independent of America."
The Loyola Club is fortunate in having Father Menager for an advisor, Mr. Theile declared, and Father Menager, he concluded, is interested mainly in having every act of the club members indicate the Filipinos are a people capable of their independence.
