ADAM'S WEDDING.

Though Adam and Eve were full young to wed,
They managed the matter right well;
No arrangements were made, there was no vain parade,
No "Jenkins" the story to tell.

Their wedding was quiet as quiet could be,
They cooked no provisions to waste,
And to wed in a garden among the green trees
Was surely the height of good taste.

Would it not be relief to our anxious mammas
If simplicity sweet could revive?
'Twould be cash in the pockets of harassed papas,
And young men would be eager to wive.

No costly outfit, no big frosted cake,
No care about jewel or glove;
There would be no reception and no bridal tour—
There would only be Eden and love.
