The Final Act of Infamy.

President Pierce has removed Gov. Reeder as Governor of Kansas. We are scarcely prepared to herald this event, although we should have been satisfied. long since, that there is nothing too mean or truckling which Franklin Pierce will not do to obtain southern votes for the next Presidential canvass. We did hope, from the hesitancy manifested by the administration the last few weeks. that there was a prospect of better things. But the President is driven on by the slave-power from one act of infamy to another. Gov. Reeder is therefore superseded by John L. Dawson, one of the eleven members of Congress from this State who voted for the Nebraska swindle-a fit tool to do the bidding of the Missouri ruffians who assume to act as the Legislature of Kansas.

No doubt some specific charge will be preferred against Gov. Reeder. as an excuse for his removal. One has already been exploded, i. e., that he had been trading in the lands of the half-breeds in Kansas, But his removal, in reality, is based upon no such thing. The truth is the true cause why Reeder has been dismissed, he would not succumb to String-fellow and his confederates. And, at their mandate, issued from the mock Legislature of Kansas, he is struck down.

What shall be the end of all this perfidy we know not. There is a consolation in the belief that Kansas cannot be admitted into the Union as a Slave State. And if, as a cotemporary observes, the Union will wreck upon a refusal to admit her with slavery, then, we say, let it go to flinders. We are done compromising with Slavery, at all events, come what will. Kansas shall never be admitted into the Union. with our consent be the consequences what they may, Union or Disunion!
