Roy Wilkins Warns Oklahoma NAACP

Branches of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People in Oklahoma were this week warned by NAACP executive secretary, Roy Wilkins, that a woman reportedly touring claiming to be the wife of Gus Courts is a fraud!

Mr. Wilkins was recently informed by Gus Courts, NAACP leader in Belzoni, Mississippi who last year narrowly escaped assassination, that such a woman was visiting NAACP units in Oklahoma and soliciting funds, in Mr. Courts' name.

In a letter to James Stewart, president of the Oklahoma City NAACP, Mr. Wilkins warned against giving any support or funds to any woman "fraudulently representing herself as the wife of Gus Courts."
