WHEN FLYING HOME
SEATTLE, Feb. 7.—A young soldier returning from overseas was found with his throat and neck slashed, just minutes before his trans-Pacific airliner landed, airline officials reported.
The soldier, Daniel J. Karamarkovich, Jr., 19, of Ambridge, Pa., was discovered bleeding profusely in the plane's men's room by flight steward Delbert Carlisle.
Beside him was a pearl-handled pocket knife, a line spokesman said, and a note written on the back of a cigarette wrapper which read: "I killed myself because I can never do anything right."
He was given first aid aboard the plane and was transferred to a hospital on arrival at the airport. His condition was not considered serious.
