Closing Proceedings of the Republican Gathering.
The following are the closing proceedings of Saturday's republican convention for Yankton county, which were not given in detail in our last issue:
The convention proceeded to ballot for treasurer with the following result:
Joseph Peir........................................42
Herman Ellerman............................16
The chairman declared Joseph Peir the nominee of the convention, and the nomination was made unanimous.
John Aaseth was nominated by acclamation for assessor.
Dr. D. F. Etter was nominated by acclamation for coroner.
Ed Palmer was nominated by acclamation for county surveyor.
The convention then proceeded to ballot for superintendent of schools, with the following result:
T. S. Dickson................................38
N. M. Hills..................................22
The chairman declared Mr. Dickson nominated.
G. W. Roberts, A. S. Dunning, Louis Lien and E. L. Fletcher were nominated by acclamation as justices of the peace.
J. S. Preston, Andrew Schatz, George Tate and J. S. Meckling were nominated for constables by acclamation.
J. R. Gamble moved that George W. Kingsbury be elected chairman of the county committee and that each precinct select a member of the committee.
Adopted.
The following names were presented by the precinct delegations as members of the county committee:
First precinct—Iver Bagstad; second—Torger Nelson; third—Haldo Sater; fourth—Andrew McCabe; fifth—R. S. Aaseth; sixth—A. S. Dunning; seventh—W. Sonnenburg; eighth—R. A. Dickinson; ninth—E. T. White; tenth—Wm. P. Dewey.
After a few remarks by Chairman Hand, in which he urged every republican present to go out and work for the success of the ticket, and to work even better than ever before, the convention adjourned sine die.
