A PROPHECY respecting America, not unlikely to be fulfilled.--In the year 1793 the United States of America will, after many internal revolutions, become a consolidated republican empire, will begin to have a navy, and to become respectable. In the year 1800 they will have opened a trade to the East Indies. In 1807 the long-expected North West passage from Hudson's Bay to the Cape of Good Hope will be discovered.
In 1810 a new form of Government will take place, by electing a republican Monarch in the manner of the Stadtholder of Holland. In 1820 the Americans will have extirpated the race of Indians which were next their frontiers, and have drove others into the inaccessible mountains, by which they will have all the fur trade to themselves, supplied by such of their own subjects, half Indian and half American, who live in their back settlements. In the year 1876, being exactly a century from their emancipation, all the powers of Europe will be confederating to guarantee their West-India Settlements to each other from the power of the Americans, which will turn their thoughts seriously to the extirpation of Europeans from the new world.--Veluti in speculum.
