nine Negro policemen were appointed as results of city elections changing administration to Citizens Progressive League. The old party, having held office for more than fifteen years, was voted out largely because of the Negro vote
which brought about the appointment of many Negro citizens of Savannah, Georgia in responsible jobs including nine policemen. Their duties were carried out so efficiently that three more officers were placed on duty Saturday, February 7.
