"Right To Work" Hoax
ONE OF THE greatest hoaxes ever pulled on the American public is the so-called "Right to Work" law being pushed in a number of states by hate-labor forces. Since Indiana succumbed last fall, 18 states have "Right to Work" legislation, and drives are either planned or are being conducted in a number of other states.
What is this "Right to Work" law, and what "rights" does it confer on the workers? The name is all wrong because it's a law outlawing the Union Shop and otherwise making it tough for unions to bargain or organize. Actually, it takes away rights—not giving them. "Right to Work" gives alright. It gives you the business!
"Right to Work" laws are designed solely for the purpose of making labor unions ineffective and eventually destroying them. Under the pretense of helping you, "Right to Work" actually hurts you and your Union.
The big hoax lies in the way that the American public is being propagandized to believe that "Right to Work" is beneficial. The theory is to candy-coat the pill. Make it palatable, and the public will swallow it, and not gag while it's going down. But, Brother, how it gags once it goes down, and you realize what you've just swallowed!
Back in the days of the New Deal when FDR was president, a bill to provide comprehensive medical and hospital care was put in the Congressional hopper. Called the Murray-Wagner-Dingell bill, it was an excellent piece of legislation intended to benefit many millions in the lower income brackets. What happened to it?
Why, Big Business and American Medical Association opposition brought in a Madison Avenue huckster. He dug deep into his bag of tricks, and came up with a dandy. They called it "Socialized Medicine." Then, these same hate-labor forces built up the myth that because it was "Socialized Medicine" it was bad for you. And they killed it. That's why you have no decent medical care legislation today.
Be on the look out, and don't let them pull the same trick with this so-called "Right to Work" hooey. Don't swallow the malarkey that "Right to Work" is good for you. Spread the truth that "Right to Work" is actually "Right to Wreck" or "Right to Destroy" labor unions and union members.
"Right to Wreck" laws will do just that—wreck the effectiveness of unions and eventually destroy them. Such laws take away your rights, and will take away your good wages and union conditions.
Help spread the message, "Right to Work" means "Right to Wreck" both you and your union!
