Presentation. - On Wednesday evening last the members of Silver Star Base Ball Club presented Captain J. Mart. Reese with a silver tobacco box lined with gold. The box was to have been presented on Mart's fiftieth birthday, November 27th, but was not manufactured in time. The presentation was made at the Old Sazerac Saloon, George A. Tyrrell speaking for the donors. Captain Reese, being in feeble health, was entirely overcome by the agreeable surprise, and ex-Lt. Governor James S. Slingeland delivered a brief and eloquent speech on behalf of the invalid in response to the feeling and appropriate remarks of Mr. Tyrrell. Wine and sentiment flowed freely until a late hour. The exterior of the box is of solid silver, beautifully enchased, the obverse side bearing the inscription: "Presented to Capt. J. Mart. Reese, by the Silver Star Base Ball Club. Carson City, Nev., November 27, 1871," and the reverse, "Capt. J. M. R.," in rain-shaded German text.
