OUR TIMES IS TO DO JUSTICE AND GIVE FREEDOM"
UNSUNG CHAMPION
A few miles from the capital city of Arizona lives one of the leading athletic champions of one of the greatest sports. He resides in an unpretentious home with his wife and four children. His hometown named a short thoroughfare in his honor. Other hometown fans have rallied the people to a small celebration for him.
If this man would walk down any Phoenix street, few would give him a second glance. He has entered public buildings without recognition. Few know him unless his photograph appears in the paper with his name underneath.
His career began in the U.S. Army and he has fought leading heavyweight contenders in the United States. Last year he had a match in England. Later this month he will meet Eddie Machen in San Francisco.
The State of Arizona has received much publicity because of this young fighter. As second ranking contender for the world's heavyweight title, Zora Folley has become the 'Man Without Honor' in his own native state.
Perhaps a statewide Zora Folley Day would show that we are proud to have him in our midst.
