Full Text

The political President of the United States, and the political Governors of the States, have appointed Thursday, Nov. 25th, as a day of Thanksgiving—by what authority we know not. If many of the authors of Thanksgiving Proclamations would observe and obey the Sabbath days of the year they might be entitled to a little respect in issuing religious proclamations for thanksgiving.

We see it announced that President Cleveland left Washington on Sunday, Nov. 7th, for the purpose of visiting Boston to participate in a celebration of some sort. That's a nice example to set while issuing religious or thanksgiving proclamations.
