The first step to bring back prosperity through a revival of the building construction industry will be taken by local building, loan and savings company executives Tuesday, September 27th, when they go to McArthur to receive instructions regarding the operation of the Home Loan Bank in the Ohio district, and to hear a discussion of present day building and loan problems by leaders in the building and loan movement.
In addition to local building and loan officers, representatives will be present from associations in Adams, Athens, Gallia, Highland, Hocking, Jackson, Lawrence, Meigs, Morgan, Pickaway, Pike, Ross, Scioto and Vinton counties.
The business session which is to be held at the Methodist Church, McArthur, will convene at noon, with J. P. Rizney, Chillicothe, district president, presiding. Speakers will include Fred W. Arnold, Bellefontaine, president of the Ohio Building Association League; James A. Devine and Don L. Tobin, Columbus, nationally known building and loan authorities.
In the call for the meeting local loan officers were told that the wave of hysteria in the financial world was over, that numerous indices indicates that business was improving and that the building and loan associations might expect a resumption of deposits as labor returns to work.
Similar meetings are being held throughout various sections of the state, to the end that the billion dollars of resources in Ohio building and loan companies may be thrown into the battle now being waged to defeat the depression.
In addition to Mr. Rizney, other officers of the district are James Moore, Waverly vice president, and W. C. Hazlebeck, Portsmouth, secretary.
