Dear Sir.
As you may have a desire to know something of the Convention, which met yesterday at this place, I have annexed a list of the Counties and Members who attended. It is difficult to say what they will do. Two specific propositions have been brought forward; one by Gen. Jackson, for a General Convention, to come immediately from the people, without the sanction of the Legislature--the other, by Mr. H. St. Geo. Tucker, to address the Legislature to call a Convention; and the advocates of each measure, so far as they have yet appeared, seem pretty equal.--One member (Gen. Blackburn) has expressed his disapprobation of Convention at all; believing that representation might be equalized in the Senate, without resorting to this extreme--and that the people at large would be satisfied with this change.
Yesterday they did nothing but appoint their chairman (Gen. Breckenridge), clerk, door keepers, &c. To day there has been some pleasant, and, I think, not unedifying speaking. No conjecture can be made as to the time they will sit; tho' I think at least for this week.
