Agree on New Lease

The city manager has been authorized by the city council to sign the lease agreement with the Greenbelt Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad for the occupancy of the new fire department building, to be effective on date of acceptance by the city of the building from the contractor.

The 25-year lease, with an option to renew every five years, provides that the fire department will provide for janitorial services, maintenance of grounds, utility services, and fire and liability insurance. It also must pay for and obtain necessary licenses and permits.

The lease prohibits the fire department from transferring or assigning the lease or any property. The property cannot be sublet without the written consent of the city. Also, no alterations will be permitted without written consent.
