Forney's Prophecy.—December last.

Mr. Forney, then a candidate for the United States Senate, addressed a letter to Mr. Buchanan, admonishing him against the dangers that would beset his administration, from which the following is an extract:

"And now, dear sir, there is an apprehension among Young America that your four years are to be signalized by a wrenching of the bolts and hinges; a carrying away of the iron doors of the Federal Treasury by the Samsons Agonistes, who succeed to Caesar's creed but not his genius. They get men with money and money with men.—

They expect to make you vibrate from the strong box when they are inside, and to it when they have made off with the contents,

They have the same Ketch one chloroform intentions on the public land and their great sentinel at the White House. You have need, sir, of the first man in the land, as your Secretary of State."

This evidently foreshadows a series of acts, of which the sale of Fort Snelling is perhaps the first that has been disclosed.
