Full Text
On Thursday night, the 23d ult. about midnight, we learn that the House of Representatives passed a bill from the Senate, which repeals the several laws establishing the Court of Appeals, by a majority of 54 to 44, and which was the next day approved by the Governor, and become a law. This bill, we understand, organizes a court of appeals to consist of four instead of three Judges.
We are sorry that any official act of the Judges, should, in the opinion of a considerable majority of the members of both branches of the Legislature, have made it necessary to adopt this mode to remove them from office; especially after the opinions of so great a majority of the people of the State, in their late election, had been so unequivocally expressed.
