CHARLESTON, Jan. 2.--We learn from a gentleman lately arrived from Savannah, that a number of bills were found upon the persons who were recently apprehended in the above place for passing Counterfeit money, which are genuine, but altered in the numbers not the amount. It is presumed, from this circumstance, that they intended to prevent the Bills from being identified; and that they either are the men who robbed the Mail lately between Baltimore, or otherwise came dishonestly by them. We are advised to suggest to those who have lately lost money, to forward the particulars to the Post Master of Savannah, that he may apply to the Mayor on the subject.
