Water Show: The Recreation Department wishes to thank all the children and adults for their co-operation, and the parents who helped, in making the show the success it was this year.
Recreation Night: The first recreation night was held Monday, August 28. The girls' exhibitions were well-decorated and the Tot Talent Show very good in that all the children from all the playgrounds participated. The exhibition of the Arts and Crafts seemed remarkable to the parents who viewed the articles the children made. A class will be offered in the fall. Over 200 people were at the exhibition.
The drama group gave a performance during the evening of recreation night. The children did a fine job as well as the instructor. We hope to have a drama group in the fall.
Softball: Congratulations to the Junior softball team for winning the Prince Georges County championship by the score of 12 to 4. The midgets went as far as the quarter-finals and the Seniors did as well.
Championship Softball: Last week the citizens of Greenbelt enjoyed the City Series and saw some of the best softball they will see for many a day. It may be the last year for the City play-offs in Greenbelt, as they hope to play the District in 1951.
Fall Program: The fall program will be published in the last issue of The Cooperator during the month of September. Some new activities will be offered this year that were not available last year, such as arts and crafts, fine arts, junior and senior high night in the gym, and after-school leagues in basketball, volleyball, touch football, etc.
Football: The Recreation Department will have a football contest in November again, so get in shape in passing and kicking, and you may win a gold football. More data will follow in November.
Swimming Pool: The swimming pool will close the day after Labor Day. We wish to thank all of the citizens of Greenbelt for their co-operation in respect to public property and giving us a hand whenever needed. The summer program will come to an end after the pool closes. Hope you had a fine summer vacation in the city and out.
