FASHIONS AND FADS
Delicate mosaic pendants, restooned with a fine chain of sterling silver, plated with gold, form some of the imported necklaces.
The jersey of 20 years ago is again in style, but this time it has been revived, and is now found on some of the very smartest blouse models.
The vogue for separate coats will increase the influence of velvet through the winter, since nothing else combines so rightly with cloth.
Silks satins designed for evening wraps are very heavy so far as to require no lining. In these the corded effects are deservedly popular.
Shirtings and puffings of chiffon and other filmy fabrics are used extensively for trimmings on the dressy gowns, whether for afternoon or evening.
The latest lingerie waist to arrive has a frank elbow puff provided for either by the tucks at shoulder and wrist or by tucked top with long mitten cuff.
Many of the old colors have reappeared, but with a new face—an indescribably bloom or ashen tint. Such effects are seen best in the rich silks and velvets.
Numbers of the new gowns will be trimmed with fur, bands of chinchilla, skunk, fox or musquash forming a narrow or deep border according to the taste of the wearer
Among dress hats the picture shapes are supreme, and the Gainsborough and all the wide-brimmed models of its sort, with plumage as rich if not richer than ever, as conspicuous.
Again the 'betrothal bracelet has come into partial favor, to try to displace the engagement ring. It is locked upon the arm by the lover and he is supposed to keep the key.
