HAROLD MIZE, MMO 3/c, left his job as mechanic at our shop in October, 1944 and enlisted in the Navy.
After four weeks of boot training at Farragut, Idaho he went to San Diego, Calif., for further training. He was sent to San Francisco and while standing in a safety zone on a San Francisco street he was hit by a reckless car driver and suffered two bone breaks in his left leg.
This mishap sent him to the Long Beach Naval Hospital, where he remained six months. He is now back for a 2-day convalescent leave in Bauxite with his wife and their two children. He will have to return to the hospital for further treatment of the broken leg.
