Full Text

On Monday last a singular discovery was made by some laborers who were sinking the foundation for a new ward to St. Giles's Work-house, where a new wing had been added to that establishment about 40 years ago on a part of the old burial ground; under the old foundation they found a coffin in a mutilated state, which, on breaking open to remove, discovered the skeleton crumbled to pieces, and near the head a quart glass bottle, closely corked, and filled with some kind of liquid, which on trial proved to be good gin, and must have lain there for above a century.
