Full Text

From the Buffalo Gazette of Jan. 17.

Alarm continues to prevail at Plattsburgh. The enemy is collecting his forces in the neighbourhood of Montreal, which strengthens the opinion of well informed men that the enemy is not in much force on our frontier.

The most useful and valuable mills in Upper Canada having been destroyed, the enemy may find it convenient to withdraw, temporarily, a part of his forces from this quarter, for the purpose of subsistence.

From the Plattsburgh Herald of Jan. 20.

The report of a British expedition to this place, continue to circulate; but from the best information we can gain on the subject, there has been no late movement of their forces, that would warrant us in the belief of their soon making any attempt upon this post.
