Full Text

Professor Hasselmayer,

The first thing to be said on the subject is to congratulate this really very meritorious and gentlemanly illusionist on getting rid of his pragmatical spectacled agent, who "skipped out" unceremoniously. To go through a description of his performances would take a large volume, we shall, therefore, have to content ourselves with saying that he is far the best artist in his line, ever seen in this country, besides being an accomplished musician and a polished gentleman. He leaves on the morning train for the North, and leaves behind him the kindest of recollections, as the following which we heartily endorse, will show:

Mr. Hasselmayer:

The Matron and children of the Evansville Orphan Asylum, desire to express to you their gratitude for the opportunity of attending, gratis, your excellent exhibition, and they desire further to recommend to the public of other cities, where you may exhibit, the very gratifying entertainment you offer them, as in every respect what it is represented as being, and altogether worthy of their patronage.

Rebecca Keny, Matron.
