LATEST FROM FRANCE.
The packet ship Francois I., Capt. Castoff, arrived on Friday, bringing us Paris and Havre papers to the 14th of May. They contain no political intelligence of interest that has not already reached us, we therefore confine ourselves to extracting the following account of the extraordinary inundation which has visited Paris and its vicinity.
Paris, May 10.
DISASTROUS INUNDATIONS.
The melting of the snow which fell about a week ago, and the heavy rains that followed, have swollen many of the rivers, that in numerous places inundations have ensued, that have been extremely destructive to property; but the accounts that have hitherto reached us, must necessarily be defective, as, since Friday, the arrival of mails and diligences from the deluged districts has been interrupted, and hence we have reason to apprehend that intelligence still more disastrous will shortly be received.
