"I have the pleasure to inform you that our Sovereign has been pleased to grant to Mr. Blanchard a bounty of twelve thousand livres, and an annuity of twelve hundred livres. His Majesty has likewise thought proper to approve of all the honours paid to our friend at Calais, and that the balloon and boat, according to the resolution of our corporation, shall be hung up in the principal church of this town, as the Minister has notified to our Mayor.
"The Corporation of Guines where Mr. Blanchard effected his descent, have written to the Minister for leave to erect a pyramid for the purpose of perpetuating the memory of so bold an attempt."
