We regret to learn that Col. John Dickinson, of Bath county, was killed by his Overseer, on the 28th ult. The particulars are thus stated by the Fincastle Patriot:

On Saturday last, Col. John Dickinson, of Bath county, had some altercation with an overseer about a horse, in which the latter gave Col. Dickinson the lie; upon which he immediately advanced to strike him, when the overseer struck him a blow on the head with a hoe which he held in his hand, and fractured the skull. Mr. Dickinson died on Sunday last. We learn that the Overseer surrendered himself immediately to an officer of justice.
