Full Text

For the Morning Star.
How to Die a Peaceful Death.—He who
would wish to die in peace must live the life of
the righteous. That is, he must live in strict
conformity to the doctrines contained in the Gos-
pel. He must submit to Christ, deny self, ab-
stain from every worldly lust, and exercise holi-
ness of heart. Those who thus live will have
ardent desires for the promotion of primitive
Christianity, and will enter the field of useful-
ness, with a zealous heart and warm affections.
In this way they will grow in grace and in the
knowledge of the truth, becoming more spiritual-
ly minded as they advance toward the gloomy
mansions of the dead. By pursuing this course
till the hour of death approaches, the pious man
will entertain no fears in regard to his destiny
beyond the grave. To him death has no sting,
and the grave no victory. All is peace and joy.
Having performed his duty in every relation of
life with honor and fidelity, he can now depart
and be with Christ, with songs of triumph up-
on his lips. This is the way in which all, both
old and young, may die a peaceful death. Will
you not live an active, holy, and God-like life, so
that your last hours may be those of peace, joy,
and triumphant victory over voracious death?
