SUSQUEHANNA SHAD.--This best of all fish that swim, says the Wrightsville Star, are still scarce among us, and but few taken by our fishermen hereabout. Perhaps not more than a baker's couple of dozens have been taken altogether at the fisheries below the Dam this season. On Monday and Tuesday last fourteen were caught in a fish basket, whilst the efforts with seines proved still more unsuccessful. A few have been intercepted in their upward route, some ten or twelve miles below this point, but little more than sufficient to create an odor from the pan.

If we may credit the representations of fish pedlars, who haul shad about in one and two-horse wagons for sale, the fishermen lower down the stream, at the "Bald Friar Fisheries," must be taking them pretty extensively, for we find, on inquiry from these truth-telling piscatory merchants, that their stock usually comes from that locality. Shad sell much more readily and for higher prices under the name of "Susquehanna" than Potomac fish.
