Mrs. Jenkins Woman's Day Speaker At St. Peters

'After announcing her subject: The Woman Who Is.' Mrs. Bessie Ooten Jenkins of the Friendship Baptist church, delivered a women's day message to the vast audience at St. Peters Baptist church, Blandtown, from the depth of her own inspired soul. The touching consecration service by the women of the church and community led by Mrs. S. Randolph formed a solid spiritual platform for the speaker who began her timely address with these words; 'I am not speaking for money or fame, but because I was chosen by you and inspired by God.'

Women, the daughters of Eve have made the greatest contribution to society the world has ever known or can know, in motherhood and homemaking. Despite the fact woman figured conspicuously in the transgression, in a moment of weakness, if we call it such, she is now a tower of strength and shall always be. I Timothy, 2:14-15 verses and Adam was not deceived but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in child bearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety. There is nothing to be added or taken away, but to be lived by God fearing women, who wish to help make this world a better place in which to live, shouted the speaker.

At this point she cited various scriptures to be used for information but read the second chapter of Titus in clear and distinct tones.

She urged Mothers and all other women to be sane in their habits, set good examples, walk circumspectly daily before God and man, and by so doing, they will help to abolish Juvenile Delinquency, which is partly the out growth of the wrong course of ethics, in the homes, communities, churches and schools.

In lauding women of achievements and vision, she declared regardless of women's attainments in life, their culture and business ventures; the strong is inseparable from the weak, and the weak is inseparable from the strong. They must belong to one of the two classes of people in the world of today-the saved and the unsaved.

Through Eve flows the source of motherhood, and through Mary the mother of Jesus flows the source of life eternal! The appreciative audience expressed every emotion laughter, tears and applauses.

Appropriate music was rendered by the choir with Mrs. Mittie Murphy at the piano and Mesdames Sarah J. Dubose and Nettie Hicks as soloist. The pastor, Rev. S. Randolph made brief remarks.

The congregation departed from the conventional style of Women Day activities and enjoyed a good gospel sermon on Sunday night, with inspirational singing. The benediction brought the end of, a perfect day.
